Bandopadhyay,
Padma (Physician)
Dr.
Bandopadhyay is the first woman Air Vice Marshal of India.
She has been the first woman officer of Indian Air Force
to be promoted to the rank of Air Commandore, and the first
woman Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Society of India.
She is the first Indian woman to have conducted scientific
research in the North Pole. She is also the first woman
officer to complete the Defence Service Staff College course.
She received Vishishtha Seva Medal in 1973 and the AFWHA
Award in 1991.

Chatterjee,
Asima (Chemist)
Professor Chatterjee has made valuable research contributions in
the field of production of natural products, specially, alkaloids,
ployphenolics, terpenoids and coumarius derived from Indian medicinal
plants. She was nominated Rajya Sabha Member from 1982-92. She received
many honours and awards including Nagarjuna Prize and Gold Medal;
Watumull Fellowship; Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize; Padma Bhushan;
Bhuban Mohini Gold Medal; Sir C.V. Raman Award; Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee
Gold Medal etc.

Coyaji,
Banoo Jehangir (Physician-Gynaecologist)
Dr. Coyaji started primary health services programme in villages
at Vadu Vidruk of Sirur taluka in 1977. Initially she started
the programme in 17 villages. Now the project has spread to
over 300 villages of Sirur and Maval talukas and to the slum
areas of Pune city. Recognising her services to poor and needy,
she was given Magasaysay Award in 1993. She also won Padma
Bhushan and the Rameshwardas Birla Award in 1992. |

Hingorani,
Veera (Physician-Gynaecologist)
Dr. Hingorani worked for different diagnosis of ovarian cyst
with pregnancy from Hydramnios, popularly known to as 'Hingorani
Sign'. She conducted outstanding research practice of
operation technique for vaginal reconstruction and design.
She received Annie Meckanzie Prize for Best student in American
College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been conferred
honorary fellowship for the first time to an Asian and for
the first time on a women in the world. |

Nath,
Indira (Physician)
Dr. Nath made valuable contributions by identifying two M
Leprae proteins which have the potential for easy diagnosis
of leprosy and identifying individuals with high risk. She
received Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize; Om Prakash Bhasin
Foundation Award; Amirchand Award; Rameshwar Das Birla Smarka
Kosh Annual Award, Padma Shri in 1999 and Unesco/L'oreal Award
in 2002. |

Sharma,
Archana (Botanist)
Professor Sharma is a renowned cytogeneticist and cell biologist
of India, who made valuable contribution to the study of
chromosome techniques. She published over 300 research papers
and authored seven books. Her book entitled "Chromosome
Techniques: Theory and Practice" (Co-authored
with her husband Professor Arun Kumar Sharma) came into
the market in several editions. She won J.C. Bose Award,
1972; Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, 1975; Padma Bhushan,
1984; FICCI Award, 1984; Birbal Sahni Medal, 1984; G.P.
Chatterjee Award, 1995; S.G. Sinha Award, 1995; Women Scientist
Award etc.
